Furniture exhibitions July to October 2009

Rensilfier will be exhibiting top quality furniture at the following events from July to October.

Furniture exhibition Woodlands Boulevard - Pretoria East

Our first exhitibion is at the Woodlands Boulevard mall in Pretoria East. This exhibition takes place from 28 July to 3 August 2009.

Furniture exhibition Pretoria Show

Following the Woodlands Boulevard exhibition in Pretoria East, we'll be heading to the Pretoria Show to exhibit our exquisite furniture there.

Please visit us at the Show, where we will be exhibiting from the 28th of August to the 6th of September 2009.

This will be the 70th Pretoria Show, and the 33rd time Rensilfier will take part, so please support us!

Clearwater Mall furniture exhibition 2009

We're once again on our way to Gauteng for yet another exhibition of our furniture. This time we can be found at the Clearwater Mall in Strubens Valley, Roodepoort.

The exhibition runs from 5 to 11 May, and can be viewed at the open space in front of Edgars.

Fountains Mall Exhibition April 2009

If you're in the Jeffreys Bay area, please do pop in at the Fountains Mall from the 7th to the 13th of April to view our exquisite furniture, which will be on display in front of the Pick 'n Pay shopping centre's entrance.

Joburg Easter Festival exhibition 2009

We truly hope that the year thus far has been a blessed one for all South Africans (whether you're a fine furniture fan or not), and that the remainder of it is even more so!

We're once again heading north, to showcase our beautiful high quality furniture at the Joburg Easter Festival, previously known as the Rand Easter Show. The show runs from 3 to 13 April 2009, and is held at Nasrec.

Please be aware that for 2009, we'll displaying our furniture in hall six, not hall seven as in previous years.

We just need to state clearly that the Joburg Easter Festival is not being held at Gallagher Estate, but at Nasrec.

History of unique Stinkwood log

This Stinkwood log grew in the Witels State forest in the Tsitsikamma and is approximately 800 years old. The log was offered for sale by S A National Parks (former Dept. Forestry) at an auction on 13 November 2007. Lot no. 3883. It was purchased and processed by Rensilfier Cabinetmakers.

The tree was damaged on one side by the “great fire” of 1869.The fire started at Riversdale in the West and was driven by a strong bergwind. It swept through the South Cape-Tsitsikamma forest leaving a path of destruction until it ended at Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape.

The damage to the tree started a rotting process. The outer part of the tree tried to heal itself by growing over the rotten part from the side but was to slow to stop the rotting process.

At the time the tree was cut the bark was in place and was therefore still growing. The rotting would however have caused it to become weak and eventually collapse and die.

Mighty Men conference 2008

I had the privilege of attending the Mighty Men 2008 Conference hosted by Angus Buchan in Greytown, along with 24 other men from Kareedouw.

Now, the question arises: What does manufacturing wooden furniture have to do with 60,000 men gathering together to pray for a country with many problems? Well, quite a lot, in fact. I serve the Lord Jesus as my saviour, and the Lord Jesus himself was a carpenter (wordweb: A woodworker who makes or repairs wooden objects).

The gathering took place in Greytown, as stated above, and the conference itself was hosted in a tent almost big enough to fit Noah's Ark in.

Although the organisers expected 30,000 people, the number turned out to be quite a lot bigger; 30,000 people bigger, in fact. One would think that this would cause all sorts of trouble, but God was faithful, supplying all the needs of the attendees.

The whole idea with the conference was to make the men of South Africa aware of their need of God; their need to humble themselves before God, and become the men they need to be, in able to live lives glorifying to God, which is man's ultimate goal on earth. This is, in fact, not just man's ultimate goal, but his ultimate pleasure, and need, this side of the grave.

The conference stirred my heart. It was awesome to see men humble themselves; to see men pray together. This is what South Africa needs; more men praying.

If the Lord wills it, I shall definitely make my way to KZN again for the next Mighty Men Conference. I urge you to consider going too.

Rand Show Furniture Exhibition

The first exhibition for the year, held at the Coca Cola dome at the Northgate shopping centre in Johannesburg, was a success!

The next stop for Rensilfier Cabinet Makers will be an exhibition at the Rand show, where we will display our fine furniture from the 21st of March to the 6th of April. We have exciting new furniture designs to show off to the world. Make sure you pop in!

Rensilfier first quarter exhibitions

Rensilfier Cabinet Makers will be exhibiting their fine furniture at two events in February and March through April of this year. We have exciting new furniture designs to show off to the world. Make sure you pop in!

Coca Cola Dome

View our exciting new designs at the Coca Cola Dome, Northgate Shopping Centre, Johannesburg. The exhibition will be taking place from the 21st to the 24th of February 2008.

Indigenous wood auction

An indigenous wood auction was held on the 13th and 14th of November in the Tsitsikamma and South Cape Forests. We once again bought the highest volume, and also paid the highest price for Blackwood, proving that we only invest in the highest quality woods.

Stinkwood grandfather clock

The main wood types on auction were Blackwood, Stinkwood and Yellowwood, but the one piece of wood that stood out the most was a Stinkwood log, estimated to be around 400 years old. This particular piece of wood was damaged in what was known as 'The Great Fire Of 1869', but managed to recover, leaving it with a uniquely unusual shape. It is our intention to produce from this piece of Stinkwood a unique Grandfather clock, which will then be put up for sale. We hope to have it on display over the December holiday season.

Unique Stinkwood table

Three hundred year old tree

A three hundred year old Stinkwood tree from the Tsitsikamma forest was recently transformed into a beautiful family heirloom. This exclusive dining room suite of more than R100 000 will find its home in the dining room of a family in the small town of Jeffreys Bay.

The world's most costly wood

Stinkwood is indigenous to South Africa, and is a very sought after furniture wood. Seasoned boards, for instance, sell for over R20 000 per cubic meter.

Design

The table

The table is 3.6 x 1.5 m, and can seat fourteen people. The top is 45mm thick, and the legs are 150mm x 150mm.

The chairs

The chairs are unique, in that the client himself supplied the ostrich leather for the upholstery.
